First Cleanup of 2020!
My 2020 Trash for Turtles (Plus) Project is off to a great start! Part of my project this year is to organize a clean up each month.
On this year’s MLK National Day of Service, we worked with the County and Satilla Riverkeeper to organize a clean up of the 121 boat landing. We had 16 participants! The landing was super trashy, but our crew left it way better than we found it. A recliner, mattress, multiple bags of garbage, shotgun shells, and tires were loaded up by the County and disposed of properly.
What really stuck out to me was meeting one of our participants, a special 8-year old girl named Gwen. Like me at her age, she is passionate about helping the environment and picking up litter. I was inspired to see that my efforts had shown her that she could make a difference, too.
I hope that you will be inspired like Gwen and go out there to make a difference. Though there may be hardships, it makes the end so much more rewarding. Stand up for what you believe is right.
Thank you for reading! If you would like to be a part of my 2020 Trash for Turtles (Plus) Project, which will run through May 1st, you can find all the fun details here.
Peace out!
Wow, that’s a lot of trash! The group did a great job!
Thank you! I had a blast and look forward to the next clean-up!
