Talk to Pre-K Students

Today, this blog post is about when I was invited to read my book to the pre-K classes at two local schools this spring. My book is named “Help Our Ocean.” I wrote it when I was six years old. I dedicated my book to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (of course!). In the story, there is a mermaid and her friends, a merman named Landon, a sea horse, and a sea turtle, who see a little girl throwing trash on the beach. They talk to the little girl about keeping the ocean clean of trash to help all of their ocean friends.

Here I am reading my "Help Our Ocean" book to a preK class.

After reading to the kids, they had many questions. That was my favorite part, because they were so excited! One of the questions was “How can we help our oceans?” I told them, “You can help our oceans by recycling your waste and cleaning up other people’s waste.” After asking questions, the kids wanted to see one of the sea turtles I adopted. My favorite is a green sea turtle named Mahi, so I showed them pictures of her and pictures of other species of sea turtles.

I had a lot of fun reading to the pre-K kids and talking with them about helping our environment. I hope to publish more books in the future, because I love to write and share my ideas with other people. Check out my sneak peek post to find out more about my next book project!
