Local Recycling Options

Below is a list of options available for recycling and donating goods in the Pierce County, Georgia area. If you know of other resources that should be added to the list, please let me know!


Aluminum Cans/Scrap Metal

  • Barber Recycling, 360 Friendship Church Rd, Alma
  • Waycross Recycling, 857 Garlington Ave, Waycross

I will also take your aluminum cans and recycle them for money to support Georgia’s marine conservation efforts. Just contact me to arrange for pick up or drop off!

Electronics

  • Staples – Staples takes many different electronic items to be recycled. These are items like computers, cables, cameras, CD/DVD players, copiers, and more. For the full list visit the Staples Recycling Services webpage.

Light Bulbs/Rechargeable Batteries

  • Lowe’s – Lowe’s is currently collecting old CFL bulbs and rechargeable batteries for recycling. At our local store, you can find the bins at the front of the store by the return area.

Paper/Cardboard

  • Sentry Data Management, 436 Nichols St, Blackshear – Accepts both paper and cardboard
  • US Postal Service offices – Discarded mail can be placed in the recycling bin located in the lobby area.

The Federal Trade Commission also provides information on ways you can cut down on the amount of junk mail you receive.

Plastics

  • Kroger – At our local store, you can recycle plastic bags near the front entrance; however, you can also collect leftover Kroger brand packaging and ship it (for free!) to be recycled. For more information visit Simple Truth Recycling Program.
  • Lowe’s – At our local store, you can find a bin for recycling plastic bags at the front of the store by the return area.
  • Walmart – At our local superstore, you can recycle plastic bags and soft plastic wraps like bubble and product overwraps. Collection containers are near the front entrance.

Thrift Shops

There are many local thrift shops that will accept donations of gently used items, from toys to vehicles. This is a way to not only do something good for the environment, but also to give back and help others. Please contact individual locations for specific information.
