Giving for Thanksgiving
Happy (late) Thanksgiving! I hope you all enjoyed time with your friends and family, and stuffed yourselves full of turkey. I know I had enough creamed corn and mac-and-cheese for a lifetime! Most of all, I hope you took time to reflect on the things to be grateful for in your life. I’ve taken some time to think for myself, and I wanted to share some of my thoughts.
I’ve taken some time to realize that I’m really blessed. So many people struggle to survive, but I don’t have to worry about my next meal. I have loving parents that provide a stable home and support me. I am able to get an education and get a job in the future. I can go on trips and participate in events that so many people can’t because of time and money. The list goes on. It seems unfair that most people in the world don’t have access to necessities and opportunities because of money or the cards they’ve been dealt. This is why it’s so important for people who are fortunate to help others.
An event is going on called GA Gives on #GivingTuesday. Here, you can donate to lots of great non-profit organizations that help with whatever you are passionate about. Many organizations that I’ve raised money for or worked with are on this list including:
- Caretta Research Project
- One Hundred Miles
- Satilla Riverkeeper
- Glynn Environmental Coalition
- Keep Golden Isles Beautiful
If you are in a position and wish to bless others, please consider donating. It’s helping organizations all over Georgia help people, animals, the environment, and all of the above!
This event ends Tuesday, November 30th, but any time is a good time to give!
