Mahi Sweep #6 – The Finale

My dad and I did our final Mahi Sweep for this year’s Trash for Turtles project. We picked up about ~100 lbs of trash from the Satilla River. We found a huge island of floating garbage in the river downstream of the Hwy 121 bridge. A tree had fallen, and the trash got stuck. There were lots of plastic bottles, glass bottles, a life jacket, and a pair of flip flops. Yuck! Thankfully, that is all out of the river now. However, there is more trash entering the rivers every second. That is why we need your help!

All Done!!!!

The Mahi Sweep Challenge ends May 1st, but it is always cool to do your part to keep trash out of our rivers and keep our community clean. That means reduce your use of single use products by using things like reusable cups, tote bags, or water bottles. That means reuse or give away items instead of throwing them away like glass bottles, old furniture, used toys, and old clothes. That means recycling whenever you can. Together, we can have a clean environment for everyone!
