Guest Post: Butterflies [Video]

Hello, I am Hannah’s sister Lily! You may have heard of me if you have been following Hannah’s website. I am writing as a guest on Hannah’s blog this month. I am doing this, because something happened this month that you would not believe. My mom found five caterpillars on our parsley plants! She put them in an old butterfly habitat that we had from when we were little. After a few days, we saw they were upside down and thought they may be dying. No, they were actually forming chrysalises! After a few hours, there were four in their chrysalises. Sadly, the other one died. After about a week, the chrysalises started turning black. We were so worried. What was happening? The next day when we got home from school, we checked on our habitat and we had a butterfly! There was a beautiful  black swallowtail butterfly right before my eyes! Here is a video about releasing one of the butterflies I named Blue Tail.

After one butterfly, another was released. We named that one Flappy. The next one, we name Spirit. Oh, they were so big and beautiful! Unfortunately, the other one that formed a chrysalis died and never came out. So, in all, three out of five survived!

That is my story about the amazing experience I had with my butterflies. You never know what kind of fun adventure you can find in your own backyard, so never stop looking!
